I started solo backpacking in 2005, when I was studying in France with very little money. Fifteen years and 75 countries later, I’ve learned a lot.

My preferred travel stye is spending on things that give me value (like experiences), and minimizing spend on other things. I buy cheaper plane tickets (I’m a Star Alliance girl, but sometimes fly discounters) and when solo, often choose hostels over hotels for the community. I enjoy taking local transport, which sometimes means chicken buses, which I find more interesting than being driven.
